Amanda is an endorsed Nurse Practitioner as well as a Credentialed Mental Health Nurse. Amanda studied Psychology for a few years before moving into Nursing, and subsequently specialised in Mental Health, in which she has a Master qualification.
Amanda has a vast array of work experiences in public hospitals, medical centres, immigration detention, residential mental health facilities, community mental health, tele-mental health, primary mental health care, private practice and Centrelink.
Amanda’s interests include youth mental health, first episode psychosis, personality disorders, depression and anxiety disorders. She works from a trauma-informed, holistic approach where the consumer’s wellbeing is central to care and prides herself in transparency, empathy and flexibility.
Amanda provides full and thorough mental health assessments, diagnoses according to DSM-5 and initiates a comprehensive management plan that includes psychopharmacological interventions as well as non-pharmacological approaches such as psychological therapies, referrals for a multidisciplinary approach as well as incorporating strategies in all aspects of a consumer’s psychosocial journey. Amanda can also provide insight and support into an array of physical health conditions and medication monitoring.
Amanda works with individuals from ages 12 and onwards. She speaks Arabic and beginner Urdu, which can be helpful with building rapport, however cannot provide intensive therapeutic interventions in these languages.
