Mary is a Speech Pathologist with over 16 years experience. She specialises in the assessment and treatment of articulation and fluency disorders in people of all ages. She also has experience working with clients with multiple, complex needs. She worked at NSW Health for 13 years, treating clients, conducting research and training other speech pathologists, before moving on to private therapy. She has helped hundreds of children and adults achieve fluency and confidence in their communication.
From 2008-2017, Mary regularly conducted workshops across Australia on The Lidcombe Program as part of the Continuing Professional Education in Stuttering (CPES) program. She has contributed to the knowledge base in speech pathology by publishing articles on treatment techniques and developing a new program for school age children who stutter.
Mary uses an evidence based approach to treatment, but is not afraid to try innovative and flexible approaches to ensure that her clients’ goals are being met. She is solutions focussed and listens respectfully so that treatment is a collaborative process. She thrives on seeing her clients blossom and find their voice.
Mary is bilingual, speaking Arabic and English and has experience working with families from a variety of CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds.
She is a member of Speech Pathology Australia and was a finalist in the Sydney South West paediatric speech pathologist of the year awards.
When not practicing as a Speech Pathologist, Mary is a passionate advocate for environmental and animal rights and is happiest by the sea.
