Haisam Haidar



Haisam is a registered psychologist with vast experience helping to guide adults, adolescents and children in resolving personal, social and psychological difficulties. Haisam has had extensive experience working in the private, government and NGO sectors, providing him with the ability to engage clients from all walks of life.

Haisam has trained and worked in a number of contexts and with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, trauma, addiction, disability, relationship challenges and growth. Haisam also works with issues related to identity, self-esteem, life cycle transitions and grief and loss.

Haisam specialises in the treatment of addiction, anxiety, mood disorders across the lifespan using patient-centred evidence-based approaches such as mindfulness based cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance & commitment therapy. He has experience providing various other forms of treatment, including play therapy with children, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Trauma informed practice and several others. Haisam strives to utilise a client-centred approach to therapy.

Haisam believes therapy is an avenue to address the challenges in life that sometimes seem unmanageable. He also believes that a strong therapeutic relationship, based on genuine acceptance and unconditional positive regard, can be the pathway for change to occur. Haisam values the importance of empathy, respect, and self-determination. He aims to empower the individuals he works with to make significant, enduring personal changes.
